What the queen wore

Ugh. My bed and the curtains and the window has never been quite right.

Yes, there are bigger things to worry about ( actually, shouldn't worry at all ) but maybe because there are bigger things, it seems like the fitting time to deal with my bed. Ain't that the truth.

Here she is:

She is a queen but she looks wee in the above photo. The blinds are always down. I put them up and cleaned up the room to make you think its always this way.

I am a lover of fabric, color and pattern. And let's face it, I think I need more in this room. I don't know what I need really. I am thinking of a fabric headboard. Its crazy to me that this girl has never attempted it. I have also been thinking of roman shades. I would like to cover the window. My mother would be horrified. Cover the natural light? Yes, I die a small death too. But my neighbors can see you walk out of the water closet      ( seems fitting since we are talking about the queen ) and that just seems awkward. I have been looking at this fabric.
Ehh. What's with the blurry? You get the idea though.

I am just not sure how to accessorize my queen.

And speaking of the queen, isn't this fascinating? I like the floral:)

Prepare the Way

Tuesday, March 26, 2013
For Palm Sunday and Holy Week, I have been working on the Triumphal Entry. I created Jesus riding the donkey, a road made out of felt palms and 2 men and 1 woman who were holding palms and crying out:

“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Men and women came to prepare the way for the coming of their King. They brought palm branches and clothes and laid them out along the road.

The people praised God joyfully in loud voices for all of the miracles they had seen and witnessed.

May you remember the miracles the Lord has done in your life this week so that you are able to embrace the power of the resurrection this Sunday.

* I created this "palm road" by sewing these together. To see another happy sewn garland, go to this lady's wonderful site, Under the Sycamore.
* And to read more of the story of Jesus riding on a colt, read Luke 19

a wedding: childhood sunsets over the gulf

Wednesday, March 20, 2013
A pic of the bride and groom after the glorious ceremony that was in the brides parents backyard. The worship was true, the love was real and the Lord was present.

The man and wife met through mutual friends. She smiled, he was smitten.

The groom is looking quite debonair with a floral bow tie. The bride chose these colors because it reminded her of her childhood sunsets over the Gulf.

The bride is accessorized with a lace veil worn many years before. Its simple and its sweet and its something her grandmother wore walking down the aisle to her beau. Her Mama wore it long but each daughter got a piece of the veil and this is how this bride wanted to wear it. An homage to 62 years of hard work but well worth it.

Dirty Laundry

Tuesday, March 12, 2013
I like these 2. I think they would make great dinner conversation. Wonder what they would talk about?

And to be honest, what I really like, is that they are pictured in front of my clean clothes. And hooray that they are clean and not dirty! I get so tired of trying to keep my house clean. And its not like " oh no, there is a pair of shoes out of place." It's more like " make a path so someone can get in the door."  I suppose its an occupational hazard as artist/mama. And that is pronounced artist-slash-mama.

So, here is to doing something you love and not cleaning your house this afternoon.

what makes my stomach drop: a gentleman caller?

Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Hello.

I am into the dolls these days. Its getting me back to drawing and I never realized I liked to draw. I was too intimidated of the dreaded white page...

Ehh. Just thinking about it makes my stomach drop.

I am able to sketch my design and then turn it into a doll. Me likes. And the Lord continues to bless me with more and more ideas.

Another suitor I have been entertaining is this guy.

What a heart for the Lord and time and time again, he has given superb accounts of what it looks like to create for the Creator. Thank you John Mark McMillian.

Here is to an easy laundry day and a swing after supper!

Isn't this artists work so happy and full of color? The more I look at this painting, I keep noticing little details that pop out. Its a fun treat for my eyes and heart.
